Sound and clear

It is a clear acount of the ways in which Levi Strauss has built a theme and a field of his own within anthropology. The influence of classical thinkers, both from functionalism and culturalism, is explained not as the passing down of themes from one author to another, nor like the mere imitation of approaches of thinkers like Durkheim or Boas. All on the contrary, Johnson draws a balanced acount bewteen those ideas which - from the very beginning had rung L.S. a bell - and those very personal ways of him to find what is structural behind and underneath the evidence.
